Describing Topsy Turvy as “a fresh look at the works of Gilbert and Sullivan”, one could say is far more than an over indulgent understatement.  This one man show takes some of the greatest operettas written in the 19th century to an entirely new level.

The show which encompasses some 19 different characters, 15 different voices, and more facial expressions than there are numbers, is in words, hysterically entertaining . Jonathan Roxmouth leaves no time for a straight face, never mind a much needed moment to deal with aching stomach muscles.

With one of Gilbert and Sullivan’s main themes being that of satire, if you’re up to date on your current events Topsy Turvy will have you rolling in the aisles. A note of warning though: do try and stay in your seat. The last thing we want is for you to be trampled during the section titled “a Song of Participation”. Don’t worry- you’ll know it when you see it. Included in this side-splitting journey through the works of Gilbert and Sullivan is an amazing display of some sword dancing, a localised lesson in writing your very own operetta, and oddly enough a sock puppet, and not to mention one very talented parrot who just about stole the show.

Whether you’re a Gilbert and Sullivan fan, a complete novice, or even a Jonathan Roxmouth die hard Topsy Turvy is an amazing evening out, and you can be guaranteed to laugh harder than you ever thought possible!
