In England, Chelsea, arsenal and Liverpool endure dreary draws to their title chase in their opening weekend matches of the English Premier League; meanwhile champions Manchester United signalled their intent to retain the Premier League title with a hard fought 2-1 victory over West Bromwich Albion at the Hawthorn Stadium yesterday. United controlled much of the game with dazzling skill but after a conceding against the run of play and losing a number of defenders through injury they made hard work of coming up with the winner. Both Manchester City and Tottenham will play this evening.
