New coach brings Euro sexy to U.S National Team
Jurgen klinsmen has been named the new coach of the United States National Soccer team, and has already, in modest fashion, talked of reforms needed in the U.S Soccer Program, Chief among them in the development at Grass roots.
“I can’t promise anything,” Klinsmann told reporters at the news conference on Monday. “There are a lot of difficult challenges ahead.”
“I’ve studied the US the last 13 years, and it’s going to be quite a challenge, He added, There are a lot of opinions, a lot of ideas from youth soccer to college, which is a model different from anywhere in the world.”.
Asked how far he felt the U.S was from competing with the worlds top 4 he replied: "I think we’re still quite a long way away from that, but it should be your goal. It should be your goal to be where the girls (national women’s team) were a couple weeks ago in Frankfurt (Women’s World Cup Final), but it all starts on the grassroots level.”
Klinsmann replaces the popular bob Bradley who was dismissed after the Gold Cup Final defeat to Mexico last month. Klinsmen is a former Striker for West Germany he played across europes major leagues and eventually retired in 1998 and moved to the United States with his American wife and their kids, He reclaimed headlines when he was named the greatest coaching find of the 2006 World Cup in his home nation of Germany,where he led the germans to a third place finish.Not only did he surpass expectations on the pitch but also reinvented it off it with his great fashion sense and keen explorative tactics. Soon after the World Cup he moved back to the United States and was linked to the coaching Job at The LA Galaxy Soccer team coach at around the same time as The Galaxy bought David Beckham from Real Madrid, a position that was given to ruud guillet. In 2008 he was give the chance to coach Bayern Munich in Germany, a position he only held for 1 year, where he led Bayern to the UEFA Champions League Quarter Finals.He is adored throughout his native land and as well as in his Adopted home of The United States.
