Round up of the weekends Rugga

The Springboks made it 8 loses out of in their last 9 tri-nations tests but did a lot better than the last few weeks as they went down to a determined and better travelling Australia. It was a tight marginof defeat but one that leaves many questions for Peter De Villiers to ponder ahead of next weeks clash against New Zealand. For one it will be intresting to see if he includes the young but talented Pat Lambie and whether he will stick with an aging formula in one of the last matches before the world cup kicks off in little under a months time.

Meanwhile in the Currie Cup, The MTN Lions consolidated top spot in the Currie Cup after a convincing win over the Toyota Cheetahs at Ellis Park on Saturday ensuring that their dream season continues and the shadows of a disastrous super 14 is quickly fading. It's still a mystery as to what has changed at the Ellis Park club but it may be linked to Elton Jantjies return to form, whatever it is may it long continue.

In other matches The Sharks beat Western Province in Cape Town to rekick their campaign and hand the Cape side their second consecutive defeat and the Blue Bulls got of the basement of the log with a win over the Pumas in Nelspruit.
After resounding loses to the Lions and W.P in recent weeks the Pretoria side went into this past weekends round of matches worst of the 8 sides contesting the Currie Cup but they dug deep in Nelspruit to beat fellow strugglers the Pumas 16-12.
In Kimberley the Griquas continued to show why they are so strong at home when they outplayed a Struggling Leopards team.
