Where are all the blues at?
Once the most free spending football club in the English premier league, now Chelsea’s transfer season has been the most quite in recent memory. Since unveiling their new coach Andre Villas- Boas 2 month ago Chelsea fans have experienced only 1 minor new signing and no significant departures.
So we here as GEM decided to do some scouting of our own and bring you 3 signings Chelsea should make before it’s too late and 3 players its best to just let go.
Give that man a contract.
luka modric (spurs) Chelsea’s open admiration for him has been the only news worthy story involving the London club this summer and you can see why all the hype. Luka is a versatile midfielder that can truly fill the void still apparent since the departure of Makalele and certainly since Michael Essien decided to be more injury prone than poor Owen Hargreaves, alternatively there are a number of young players to fill the position, those worth mentioning include Palermos Javier Pastore and Slovakian International Maresk Hamsik.
Juan mata (Valencia) It’s clear that the future of Chelsea is in the hands of Fernando Torres and so all the summer building would centre around making him more dangerous, that’s why a natural winger like Mata would fit in so well. He’s young, having just participated at the u21 championship in Denmark, he’s Spanish and he’s hot property.
Ben Foster (Birmingham). With Peter Cech’s prowl and reflexes diminishing with every passing season. The only solution is to give him some real competition, something neither Turnbull or Hilario( AKA hilarious) have been able to do. Why not take a gamble on the excellent young English goalkeeper with brimful of optimism, trophies and experience in both an English and Manchester United jersey.
TIME TO GO
Nicolas Anelka. the village bicycle of English football he has moved to no less than 5 English clubs in his career and although the early signs were promising, a combination of his recent form and the realisation that the Russian boss wants Torres to be the real star of the show, he needs to get away from Stamford bridge before his ego blows him out.
Yuri Zhirkov. The player few Chelsea fans know even exists and even fewer can pronounce. It’s hard to see the Russian as anything more than an expensive (he cost Chelsea around 18 million pounds) sign of whose really calling the shots at Chelsea but it’s hard to see the boss man Abramovich allowing him to go.
Jose Bosingwa. It’s hard to believe that the Portuguese international was once the shining jewel coveted by most of the top clubs in the world. His form has declined so rapidly into a mess of meritocracy and complaint that even the one attribute he could always rely on, pace, is gone. What do you do with an aging attacking wing back that can’t run or even cross at the best of times: sell him to the 1st bidder you get.
